[Argyll and Bute, Colonsay, Island of, Gigha, Island of, Islay, Island of, Scotland]
Description
The map shows the island of Islay and also Colonsay and Gigha, locating them by including small parts of Knapdale and Kintyre to the east and of Jura to the north. The Rhinns of Islay are misoriented, as is Loch Gruinart, so that the island is scarcely recognisable from its shape. There is much detail, nevertheless, of settlement mostly located all around the coast. The map was compiled from observation on the ground by Timothy Pont, in the last two decades of the sixteenth century. It was engraved in Amsterdam, for publication in Blaeu's Atlas Novus, first published in 1654.

Description
The map shows the island of Jura and also Colonsay, locating them by also including adjacent parts of Knapdale on the mainland to the east, the Ross of Mull to the north and Islay to the south. The coastal outline of Jura is foreshortened and Loch Tarbert is disproportionately wide. Settlement is confined almost entirely to the east coast of the island. It was engraved in Amsterdam, for publication in Blaeu's Atlas Novus, first published in 1654.

[Harris, Island of, Lewis with Harris Island, Scotland, Western Isles]
Description
The map shows the island of Lewis and Harris, together with the Flannan Islands, the Shiant Islands and the islands of the Sound of Harris. The map is oriented with west at the top. The map has the east-west orientation of the north coastline of Lewis which is characteristic of the reformed outline of Scotland initiated by the mapping of Timothy Pont. Whilst many place names are identifiable today, the depiction of the coastline and of the sea lochs is not accurate. The map was compiled from observation on the ground by Timothy Pont, in the last two decades of the sixteenth century. It was engraved in Amsterdam, for publication in Blaeu's Atlas Novus, first published in 1654.
