The landscape was designed by Henry Hoare II, while Flitcroft designed the Pantheon (1753?4) and Alfred?s Tower (1762) at Stourhead. Planting (begun 1791) was largely by Sir Richard Colt Hoare, but the present planting dates from the late 19th century.
