Various views of the dissection of the brain. Top left: surface of intact dura covering hemishere; midbrain - brainstem below. Top right: hemispheres with dura reflected; cerebellum below with tonsils detached. Bottom left: cranial cavity, hemispheres removed. Bottom right: cranial cavity with partially-dissected hemispheres. It is a reprint of a plate made for the Bauman Anatomia Deudsch of 1551 (it copies Geminus 1545). This is a composite plate that ultimately derives from pages 605, 606, 614, 615, 616 and 617 of Vesalius 1543.
