Layers of the human skull peeled away to reveal the brain. Various parts of the brain displayed. Cerebrum with dura mater intact, then with the latter removed. Brainstem (X); cerebellum. View from above of cranial cavity after removal of cerebral hemispheres (IX) A tilted view of cranial contents after removal of some of the brain - structures badly distorted. This is a composite plate that derives from pages 605, 606, 614, 615, 616 and 617 of Vesalius 1543. It is a later state of the plate in Geminus 1552, ai0079.
