Description:
|
The four figures are details of the abdominal cavity, in which the layers are gradually peeled away to reveal the veins, muscles and the intestines. The fourth figure is a cross-section of the abdominal cavity showing details of the mesenteric vessels. This page is printed from three copper plates, derived from pages 455, 456, 457, and 458 of Vesalius 1543. It is a later state of the plate in Geminus 1552, ai0071.
