Description:
|
The first figure shows the base of the brain; the second figure is a lateral view of the brain with the distribution of some of the cranial nerves; the large ramification in the lower part of the figure is an attempt to illustrate the distribution of the vagus nerves. Figure III shows the relation of the vagus nerves and the recurrent laryngeal nerves to the aortic arch and carotid arteries. Also shown is the spinal cord with the cut-off stumps of the nerve roots (IIII). This is a composite plate that derives from pages 418, 419, 428 and 431 of Vesalius 1543. It is a later state of the plate in Geminus 1552, ai0067.
