Description:
|
There are three figures showing the muscles, veins and organs of the abdomen; a fourth diagram shows the lower abdomen outwith the body. This plate is a composite. Although the figures appear to be new inventions, in fact, they are variations on figures in Vesalius. Thus, figure I in Valverde is derived from page 455, figure II is derived from page 456, figure III is derived from page 457, and figure IV from page 458 of Vesalius 1543. (See Valverde 1559:ai0025, the plate is the same but selectively refreshed).
