Description:
View of skeletal and muscular systems from the back, with no arms or shoulders.This plate is ultimately derived from page 208 of Vesalius 1543, in reverse. In the Valverde plate, the plinth on which the figure kneels in the Vesalius plate is removed, making his kneeling position illogical. Note the different treatment of the skull and the calf, and foot fragment in the foreground of both plates. (See Valverde 1559:ai0022, the plate is the same but selectively refreshed).
