Description:
|
On this page, the twenty eighth figure represents the non pregnant uterus of a dog and the twenty ninth figure shows the uterus of a cow. The thirtieth figure consists of 4 separate diagrams illustrating the human foetus and its coverings. Figures 28 & 29 are an early attempt - perhaps the earliest - to show that the traditional view of the human uterus as 'horned' was derived from the (undeclared) assumption that it has the same structure as the uteri of many animals which are indeed, 'horned' - bi-cornuate as here in the dog and cow. Vesalius explains this in the legend.
