Description:
These four figures are details of the abdominal cavity, in which the layers are gradually peeled away to reveal the veins, muscles and intestines. The fourth figure is a cross-section of the abdominal cavity showing the vessels of the omentum. This page is printed from three copper plates; they derive from pages 455, 456, 457, and 458 of Vesalius 1543.
