Description: 
One of 6 broadsides, known collectively as the Tabulae Anatomicae Sex. This one carries Vesalius's dedication to Narcissus Parthenopeus, "his master and patron", principal physician to the Emperor Charles V. Vesalius himself designed the anatomical illustrations on this sheet. The title purports to give the name of the vena cava in Greek and in Arabic. The Arabic is transliterated into Hebrew characters, as was usual at the time, but the transliteration is incorrect. See Singer & Rabin, 1946. The image on the left is of the liver, spleen and branches of the portal vein. The right group of images shows the reproductive organs of the male (above) and female (below). The third (small) figure of the group shows the connections of the vasa defferentia which carry the semen.
