Description:
|
One of 6 broadsides, known collectively as the Tabulae Anatomicae Sex. Vesalius himself designed the anatomical illustrations on this sheet. The title is confused and confusing. The following is summarised from Singer & Rabin, 1946, qv. Rendering Arabic words in Hebrew characters was common at the period but these Hebrew characters spell HA-ORTI and not hanabub. The names are printed in Hebrew characters and have been erroneously exchanged between Tabulae II and III. However, hanabub is equivalent to vena cava. See also title to Tabula III. The image shows the liver, vena cava and distribution of the large veins. The image shows the liver, vena cava and distribution of the large veins.
