Description:
This plate illustrates two torsos in Roman battle dress with the insides of their abdomens revealed, to the side are separate diagrams detailing the small and large intestines, the rectum and the upper mesentric portion of the small intestine. This is a composite plate. Although some of the figures appear to be original to Valverde, they are in fact derived from Vesalius. Thus, figure V is derived from page 460, and figure VIIII is derived from page 463 of Vesalius 1543. The other figures are copied after Vesalius pages 461, 462 and 464.
