Figure 1 shows one half of the eye sectioned horizontally through the optic nerve. Note the lens incorrectly shown in the centre of the globe. Figures 2-19 on this plate show various different aspects of the parts that make up the eye. These figures ultimately derive from pages 643 and 644 of Vesalius 1543.
