Description:
The second figure is the next in the sequence of dissection of the thoracic cavity. In the third figure the heart is shown, enclosed by the pericardium, resting on the diaphragm between the retracted lungs, with the phrenic nerves coursing down on either side. They are ultimately derived from pages 560 and 561 of Vesalius 1543.
