Description: 
In the lower figure the hepatic portion of the inferior vena cava has been opened to expose the entrance of the hepatic, right inferior phrenic and the right suprarenal veins. The upper figure illustrates the posterior aspect of the liver, inferior vena cava, suspensory ligament and portal vein. These figures ultimately derive from page 377 of Vesalius 1543.
