This map has an unusual pedigree, being originally created in 1696, by Theodore Dury, who became Chief Engineer in Scotland some time before the Union in 1707, and copied in 1720 by John Romer, who was the architect of Fort George, Inverness, and many other key fortifications throughout Britain. There are two 19th. century copies of this map on images 00003480-3481 and 00003482-3483.
