Description:
This plan, titled 'A survey of right Honourable Lord Beelhaven's lands of Beel', was drawn in about 1720 by John Kininmonth. There is a dedication to Lord Belhaven and a coat of arms, flanked by rampant stallions with the motto 'ryde through'. The plan shows the estate of Beel (Biel) in East Lothian. To the north of the river are a number of small enclosed parks. To the south are larger parks with scattered farm buildings and a large area of woodland. A key gives the names of different farms and other features. The scale at the bottom of the map is flanked by a mythical creature, possibly a winged horse. The drawing is coloured with small elevations of buildings.
