Title:
Sketch of the mouth of Aberdeen Harbour the Battery and ground adjacent [with report]
Creator:
Gravatt, William (active 1795)
Creator Role:
Surveyor
Date:
1795
Description:
It is part of a series of 7 similar sketches and reports, the others being Arbroath, Dunbar, Aberdeen, Peterhead, Banff and Campbeltown, (in images 00003194, 00003195-3196, 00003197, 00003199, 00003200 and 00003202-3203). The Dunbar report is contained in a letter to Lord Adam Gordon, dated 'Edinburg June 1st 1795', which is signed 'Your Lordships Very obedient H. Servant W.G. Lt. R. Engrs', and has a pencil note 'William Gravatt' added at a later date. The Campbeltown plan and report are uncoloured, and a note with them indicates that they are earlier drafts of those sent to Lord Adam Gordon. There is a plan of the batteries at Greenock (in image 00003201) which may also be part of the series, but has no report with it.
