Description:
This is a copy of the plan at shelfmark MS.1647.Z.02/65a, which was done by William Skinner, in 1747. It has three sections. The top part contains a plan of Fort Augustus, showing the extent of the damage after the attack by the army of Charles Edward Stuart, in 1746, the middle part contains a profile of a proposed defensive fosse, and the bottom part contains the title and 'Explanation. There is another copy, also done in the Tower of London Drawing Room, in 1776, by James Miller, at shelfmark MS.1647.Z.02/65c. The original assessment was followed by a plan at MS.1647.Z.02/66a, which has copies at MS.1647.Z.02/66b and MS.1647.Z.02/66c, and a sheet of sections at MS.1647.Z.02/70a, which has a copy at MS.1647.Z.02/70b, which detail his repairs.
