This sheet has three sections. The top part contains a plan of Fort Augustus showing the extent of the damage after the attack by the army of Charles Edward Stuart, in 1746, the middle part contains a profile of a proposed defensive fosse, and the bottom part contains the title and 'Explanation. It is William Skinner's initial assessment of the damage to Fort Augustus, and is followed by a plan at shelfmark MS.1647.Z.02/66a (copies at shelfmarks MS.1647.Z.02/66b and MS.1647.Z.02/66c), and a sheet of sections at shelfmark MS.1647.Z.02/70a (copy at shelfmark MS.1647.Z.02/70b), which detail his repairs.
