Title:
Plan of Fort William at Inverlochie [i.e. Inverlochy] in Lochaber.
Creator:
Anonymous
Date:
1711
Description:
This plan of Fort William is unsigned and undated, but it seems to be the follow-up of the plan at shelfmark MS.1646.Z.02/24c, which showed the state of the fort as it had been found in 1709. This plan details current improvements to the fort. The 1934 War Office Schedule attributes it to Theodore Dury, but comparison with other plans of his make this doubtful. It has been dated at 1711 by Tabraham and Grove, and a pencil notation on the plan itself dates it to 'c. 1709', again both dates disagreeing with the War Office Schedule notes. The plan at shelfmark MS.1646.Z.02/24c seems to have the same handwriting as this has.
