Description:
One of a set of four unsigned plans of Stirling Castle, the others being 00002705, 00002706 and 2708. Despite the date of 1741 written on them, they are unchanged copies Andrew Jelfe's and Thomas Moore's set of four plans of Stirling Castle from 1719 (2679, 2680, 2681 and 2682), although they cannot have been drawn by Moore, as he died in 1734. Many of the earlier Board of Ordnance plans were copied in 1741, probably in the Tower of London Drawing Room. This sheet shows the barracks, the lieutenant's lodgings and vaults, the Governor's wine vault, the garrison's beer vault, the sutling rooms (private mess) and storerooms for cattle fodder, with elevations of certain sections.
