Description:
This sheet shows a detailed plan of Stirling Castle, which is undated, but has been signed by Theodore Dury. It probably dates to about 1708, or shortly thereafter, as Theodore Dury began substantial work on Stirling Castle, Edinburgh Castle and Fort William on 1 July, 1708 (see reference below). There is a copy of this, with additions detailing fortifications to the main entrance and nether bailey, at shelfmark MS.1646.Z.02/16b, probably also done by Dury at the same time, and a related plan developing from this at shelfmark MS.1646.Z.02/23a (copies at MS.1646.Z.02/23b and MS.1646.Z.02/23c).
