Description:
This coloured manuscript plan of the River Spey between the Haughs of Ordiwhish (Ordiequish) and Dipple was drawn in 1734 to show a bulwark built across a weak point in the bank by the Duke of Gordon. It shows the area of erosion and deposition at this point and the attempts to regulate it. Part of the bulwark is shown as having been destroyed by a spate in the river. Associated pprocesses, also held by the National Archives of Scotland, describe the bulwark in more detail and name the drawer of the plan. See also RHP 94380. This is a functional plan drawn to establish the situation of the bulwark and to consider repairs. It is also an attractive map, with a distinct compass rose with a face in its centre.
