Description:
This petition concerns a dispute between Thomas Buchan of Cairnbulg and Charles Fraser of Inveralochy regarding a Moss (which Fraser calls the Moss of Inveralochy, and Buchan calls the Moss of Cairnbulg), particularly in respect of the right to cut peat from the Moss. Fraser appeals to be allowed to 'make out a Plan of the said Moss; for though the Pursuer [i.e. Buchan] has made out a Scrape of a Plan, which to me appears not easily to be understood ... I hope your Lordships will therefore have no regard to it, but allow both of us to make Plans by your Authority that may be of use for Explication of the Proof; ... because of the Marches of the Links settled by the Interlocutor, which will not be easily understood without a Plan, ...' (p.5). The related plan is image 00002472. There is another, presumably related plan of the Moss, image 00002118.
