Description:
A map of a part of Moray, from Fochabers and the River Spey in the east, extending westwards to Hart Hill and south as far as Orton House. There is much settlement detail, with prominent likenesses of some houses, castles and ecclesiastical buildings around the former Loch of Spynie. The map was catalogued by C.G. Cash as part of the manuscript maps compiled by Robert Gordon. In fact, it was compiled largely by Timothy Pont in the last two decades of the sixteenth century. Robert Gordon's handwriting occurs almost exclusively east of the Spey and close to his home, where it is easily distinguished from that of Pont.
