Description:
This 18th century plan shows an area to the north west of Huntly. It has been drawn to show the pre-improvement division of arable and pasture with occupiers having a series of scattered blocks. An area of commonty is also shown. Settlements are scattered, usually with 3 or 4 buildings, and include Hollydike (Hollowdyke), Whitestanes, Thorntree, Ordbrae and Clay mires. The public road near Cairn whelp still exists. Pencil markings below the ink of the plan show the protractor bearings used in the survey, suggesting that this was drawn directly from the on site measurements. Secondary doodling includes a sketch of flowers and the name Nebuchanezzar!
