Description:
This coloured sketch plan, showing the roads at Inverkeithing, was surveyed by Samuel Neilson in 1740. Associated documents (held by the National Archives of Scotland) describe the road and the dispute concerning its measurements. The plan demonstrates that the new road was somewhat longer than the old line. The measurements of each section are given in the key. A myre is also marked as the road needed to divert in order to avoid it. The roads are shown with parallel dotted lines. Two dyke lines are also drawn, with a double unbroken line with tree symbols alongside. This enclosure dyke appears to be the reason for rebuilding the road.
