Description:
|
A large scale map of a small part of Buchan, stretching from the mouth of the Ythan River, up the coast to the mouth of the Ugie River, but inland showing only the country immediately to the north and west of Cruden Bay, and inland from Collieston but only as far as the Burn of Forvie. The map was compiled by Robert Gordon of Straloch (1580-1661) at an unknown date. The content may, in part, derive from the observations of Timothy Pont made in the last two decades of the sixteenth century, but it was also influenced by Gordon's first-hand knowledge of his home area.
