Description:
A manuscript map of Glen Avon and Strath Avon and Glenlivet, from the headwaters in Loch Avon and Loch Builg, north to Craggan, close to the confluence with the Spey; also a fragment of the catchment of the Nethy, as well as upper Strath Don and the Ladder Hills. There is much settlement detail in Strath Avon and Glenlivet, where later alterations to the detail occur. The map is the surviving remnant of what was once a larger draft. The map was compiled by Robert Gordon of Straloch (1580-1661), at an unknown date after 1633. The main source of the compilation is likely to be the observations of Timothy Pont, in the last two decades of the sixteenth century.
