Description:
A map of Strath Bran and Glen Strathfarrar, with some of the country between, as far west as Loch Monar, Lurg Mhor and Maoile Lunndaidh, and in the east, the heads of the Beauly, Cromarty and Dornoch Firths. The position of Loch Fannich has twice been altered and is in the wrong location in respect to Loch Luichart. There is very little settlement detail but numbers of mountains are named and spelt phonetically. The map was compiled by Robert Gordon of Straloch (1580-1661), at an unknown date after 1633. The main source of the compilation is likely to be the observations of Timothy Pont, in the last two decades of the sixteenth century.
