Description:
A map of 'The Shire of Berwick alias the Mers or March and Lauderdale' from Herman Moll's 1725 atlas of Scotland. The map shows the road from Berwick to Edinburgh as it goes through Cove and on to Haddington. Interesting features include the dotted line from 'Fasidhill', the inclusion of Lamberton in England, and the reference to Thirlestane Castle as 'The Fort'. Enclosed areas are plentiful here. This was a highly rural area; Lauder was probably the largest burgh with around 500 inhabitants.
