Description:
A map of the coastal outline of Fair Isle and the mainland of Shetland, together with some of its off-shore islands. Inland, the map is blank and there are only ten names inserted around the coast. The map appears to have a close affinity with the coastline of Mainland, as depicted on a larger scale and in very much more detail by Timothy Pont, first published by Henricus Hondius in 1636, although engraved by Blaeu six years earlier. The exact provenance of the manuscript map, which is by Robert Gordon of Straloch (1580-1661), is not known.
