Description:
A large map of the eastern lowlands of Scotland from the River Don in Aberdeenshire to the Borders, but also stretching westwards to the coast between Loch Leven and Loch Craignish. In the west, only the coastline appears. In central Scotland, little more than the main drainage lines are depicted but in the east, there is much detail of the Borders, the Lothians, Fife, parts of the Tay catchment and the River Dee. The map is an uncompleted draft compiled by Robert Gordon of Straloch (1580-1661), at an unknown date after 1633. The main source of the compilation is likely to be the observations of Timothy Pont, in the last two decades of the sixteenth century.
